The Insider Sunday

My exchange partner Paula is a very kind person. She has: a mother, a stepfather and 2 brothers. The contact between Paula and her family is very good. They are very kind and friendly people. When I met them for the first time at the airport it was very nice, they said when we are at home, that their home is my home and that they will care at me very good. Spanish people behave very sympathetic and kind. I like them very much. They are like my family. The Spanish people are very close to each other and they like dancing very much as the Dutch group. The contact between the Dutch group and the Spanis group is very good. Everyone have introduced them self from the Spanish group and from the dutch group at the airport yesterday. The mother of Paula lived years ago in Germany. She can speak German and English. She is very friendly. When we are at them home she asked me what kind of food I like, because I don´t eat all kind of food. She had cut different recepten for me now. Paula and her family are going to learn me Spanish. I like that very much. This exchange is a very good experience for me. We will have a great time together!!!

Individual assignments

Individual assignments for exchange students

Each student is expected to write and deliver a report about his/her personal experiences with the exchange. Every day four students write an article for the blog. Each group focuses on a different theme but all groups write about the differences as well as the similarities between both the Spanish and the Dutch culture.

The collective report (minimum of 300 words / maximum of 500 words, head – title, date, writer) is sent to the supervisor by e-mail before the deadline. The supervisor will then upload the report to the blog by the end of the day. This way the supporters at home will be able to stay updated with our daily activities.

Theme A. The Insider

Here the focus is on social behaviour of both the Spanish partners and their families. Describe how Spanish people behave and why. How do they behave in a group compared to the Dutch students? Share an interesting story about your Spanish partner or one of his/her family members. How do Spanish students get along with the Dutch (and vice versa)? Tell something about the family with whom you stay.

Theme B. The National Geographic

Here the focus is on the Spanish environment. This includes nature, architecture, arts, historical sites, etc. What does Spain look like? What historical things are there to write about? Describe the insides and outsides of the houses and buildings you visit.

Theme C. The European Times

Here the focus is on the Spanish culture. How do Spanish people live, work, study, entertain themselves? What is different compared to your own culture? What is similar? Describe the foods and the what is popular. What is school like in Spain? Write about the educational system.

Theme D. The Photographer

Take at least 5 photographs that can be published on the blog.
